I wrote this for one of my classes at school and they loved it. My Grandmother’s Cream Of Wheat When I was young my Mother and Grandmother lived pretty close together, so close I use to walk to my grandmother’s house all the time. I love my Grandmother so much; I use to live with her more than I lived with my own Mother. My Grandmother use to make me the best Cream of Wheat for breakfast on the weekends. She would get a medium saucepan and fill it halfway with water. She would add a pinch of salt. Than we would both watch for the water to come to a boil, I would tell her when it was ready for the wheat. She would add the Cream of Wheat. She would add just enough to make the water look thick with it. She would tell me to”stir slow and don’t stop until it was thick”. Then she would add butter, just enough to change the color yellow, than sugar to taste. She would sit me down at the table and give me a great big bowl with two slices the bread and a glass of milk. I would take the bread, make little balls, and drop than in the bowl. MMMMMMMMMMM it was so GOOD! I love my Grandmother so very much and I miss her. She has passed on now but I am glad I have special times like those to remember her. Kisses Grandmother!
